Farmers Markets have been around since the early 1900's. Farmers would bring their produce into Leduc to sell on a casual basis even before a formal market was organized.
In 1973 the Minister of Agriculture established the Farmers Market Program in Alberta. The Leduc Farmers Market received official status in 1975. The market was held inside the Alexandra Arena during the summer and inside the SAAN mall during the winter.
In 2001, due to repairs inside the arena, the market was moved outside to the park. The outdoor market proved to be very popular with the public and the vendors.
Due to changes at the Alexandra Park to accommodate the population growth in Leduc, the Leduc Farmers Market moved to a new location on 50 Avenue between 48 and 49 Street in 2014, to the ATB Financial parking lot in 2015, and to the Leduc Recreation Centre parking lot in 2016.
The Leduc Farmers Market is located on the west side of the Leduc Recreation Centre parking lot. For 2018 we are open Thursdays and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM (Thursdays, May 17 to October 4, and Saturdays, June 30 to October 6). We look forward to seeing you there!
